A one day course for those working with students who appear to have a passable grasp of English but are not achieving their full potential and continue to be held back by language barriers.

This course addresses the needs of EAL learners who have been in the UK for some years or may have been born here and present as fluent in conversation, but are not achieving because there are gaps in their knowledge of how academic language works in English.

The course provides successful approaches to integrating a language focus into all classrooms, with simple strategies that can be consistently applied by all staff to ensure that pupils with English as an additional language are breaking through the academic language barriers they face and have full access to the curriculum.
