New for 2018-19, Paul Carney will be delivering 4 twilight sessions across the academic year for teachers or teaching assistants who run the art provision in a Primary School.
Coordinating Art in a Primary School - 7th November 2018
How to plan art provision, doing an art audit, disseminating art skills to other staff, art activities, buying stock, making sketchbooks, curriculum coverage.
Assessment - 28th November 2018
Measuring and recording progression and attainment in art using manageable classroom based practices, AfL, peer and self assessment.
Art for Projects - 13th March 2019
Developing art activities as part of a larger project that have deeper learning aims than mere surface activities. Making art relevant to the whole curriculum, exploring creative learning and project based learning
Independent Learning - 1st May 2019
Art projects for thinking skills, questioning techniques, PSHE, SMSC dimensions whilst developing collaborative learning and metacognition.
Biography Paul is a nationally recognised, NSEAD registered, art consultant having delivered specialist art CPD in schools across the UK and for the UK’s leading training providers. He is a council member for the NSEAD and runs his highly successful art website: paulcarneyarts.com that provides high quality teaching resources and advice to teachers around the world. He has over twenty years teaching experience at Primary, Secondary and post-16 levels of education, is an Advanced Skills Teacher, ex-Subject Leader for Art and was a member of the DfE Expert Advisory Group for Art and Design. In addition to this he was a member of the NSEAD Curriculum Writing Group that wrote the art curriculum competencies, more formally called the: 'Framework for Progression, Planning for Learning, Assessment, Recording and Reporting 2014.’ Paul specialises in teaching drawing and painting and is a practicing professional artist and designer.
