Getting to Grips With the Curriculum With Mary Myatt

First Session

Date & Time: 17th October 2018 09:00am - 12:30pm Venue: The Lodge @ Fulbridge Academy

There is a renewed focus on the quality of the curriculum. This is likely to be a key line of enquiry during inspections. Leaders will need to be able to:

  • Talk about the curriculum in their schools: how it is designed and what it is intended to do

  • Know how their curriculum is implemented

  • Know what impact their curriculum is having on pupils’ knowledge and understanding

This session will summarise the work of those schools which are designing and planning their curriculum well and will highlight some of the pitfalls. Colleagues will have access to resources which include videos for staff meetings, lesson plans and materials to get them started.

Development Session

Date & Time: 14th February 2019 09:00am - 12:30pm Venue: The Lodge @ Fulbridge Academy

Explore these themes...

‘We like doing things that are difficult!’ This section will consider how high challenge, low threat creates the conditions for us to do our best work and how this has an impact on discretionary effort.

  • The workload challenge

Taking a sensible approach to planning, data collection, feedback and marking this section will draw on the findings from the DfE, EEF and Ofsted myth busting: how, by doing fewer things really well, has greater impact on outcomes and supports improved wellbeing.

  • What’s happening with the curriculum?

A look at Ofsted’s review of the curriculum: a conversation about intent, implementation and impact.
