Who is the training aimed at?

Newly qualified teachers who would benefit from a knowledge of how to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Training Objectives

  • To understand the expectations on teachers with regards to SEND in both Teachers’ Standards and the Code of Practise 2015
  • To understand the Graduated Approach
  • To develop a range of practical strategies to support pupils with SEND and Specific Needs
  • To be able to write effective Individual Education Plans and Provision Maps in order to meet individual needs

Format of the training

The training will be delivered as three morning sessions (3 x 3 hourly sessions), which will provide a progression of skills.


The training will be led by Denise Parker, an experienced SENCo, SLE and SEN Consultant. Denise has been a SENCo in a large 3 form entry primary school for 11 years, leads a large SENCo Cluster group and has sat on various panels for the Lincolnshire SEND Team.


£50 per session for PLP members £100 per session for non PLP members
