Whether new to the profession, or with a number of years under our belts, managing the classroom can present significant challenges. This can cover responding to more general behavioural issues through to managing the ‘tricky class’

This day will blend behaviour theory with down-to-earth practical strategies designed to help maximise pupil engagement and minimise the amount of energy you have to put into ‘managing behaviour’.

Participants will have:

  • Used solution focused thinking to evaluate their current practice, highlighting strengths and areas for development

  • Consider how the 5 ‘Rs’ might be adopted within their classroom – Relationships, Rights, Responsibilities, Routines and Rules

  • Developed a better understanding as to how behaviours such as low level disruption, task refusal, defiance and attention-needing behaviours can be seen as inappropriate ways pupils communicate their needs – and have an increased repertoire of strategies for minimising these and maximising behaviours for learning.

  • Created an action plan – with which they will be supported by the course tutor after the course
